What is Reiki?

The word ‘Reiki’ (pronounced ray-key) means Sacred Universal Life Energy. It is an ancient form of ‘hands-on’ energetic healing of body, mind and spirit. While every living human being has a certain amount of life energy, practitioners of Reiki are opened through a special ‘attunement’ to receive and to allow an increased amount of energy to flow through them. They simply place their hands on or just above the person who seeks healing and the Reiki (Sacred Universal Life Energy) begins to flow into that person.

Who benefits from Reiki?

Everyone and everything can benefit from
Reiki! In today’s world we are often caught up in living at a whirlwind pace. Reiki helps alleviate the symptoms associated with stress and fatigue which are so common for people living at such a pace.

Disease (dis-ease) very often results from a lack of energy or an energy blockage in a particular area in our body. Very often this happens due to life’s traumatic events or is connected with beliefs which do not serve our highest good.
Reiki helps undo energy blockages and restore depleted energy levels and can bring to 'light' those beliefs held in our subconscious which undermine our well-being.

Specifically
Reiki helps almost any physical, emotional or spiritual difficulty and can be used in conjunction with traditional medicine and/ or other healing modalities.

  What is Healing?

Healing and curing are two different things. We might be healed even though we are not cured. Healing has to do with wholeness, with the ability to live joyfully and in peace no matter what else is happening in our life. Healing helps us to achieve our potential as a human being.

What is a Reiki Session like?

Each Reiki session is different. Generally the person receiving Reiki will either lie down on a padded Reiki table or sit in a comfortable chair. S/he will be fully clothed in comfortable attire. There will be soft music playing if the person so wishes. The receiver of Reiki will state what s/he hopes to gain from the Reiki session. The practitioner will then say a brief prayer before placing his/her hands on or just above the receiver’s body. The practitioner will begin at the  recipient’s head and move slowly to different areas of the person’s body. The actual experience of the Reiki session is different for every person.

How long does the Reiki Session last?

Usually Reiki sessions last at least one hour. The session may be longer or shorter
according to the desires of the recipient.

How much does a Reiki session cost?

The usual fee for a Reiki session is $65 per hour.
However, there is a sliding scale of $45 or $25 available.
